I have had an issue with a Windows 10 quirk ever since I started using its Universal Windows Platform apps. The experience is inconsistent but for about 90% of the time, when a UWP app gets opened from another UWP app, it copies the size of the launching app.

This frustrated me because I like my window sizes to be consistent and I always end up resizing the launched app later, which I think is a waste of time. So I wasted even more time and made a utility to solve this issue.

UWP Window Size Manager is what I ended up with. It sits on the Windows tray and keeps tabs whenever a UWP app is opened. It records the app’s last window size and position so when that app is relaunched again, say from another app, its dimensions will get restored.

It’s available now on itch.io and I sent a request to be on-boarded with Microsoft’s Desktop Bridge initiative. That way, I can get it onto the Windows Store and hopefully give people on the pretty limited Windows 10 S access to it.

Below is a before and after of it in action.
